LIST OF FILMS | AWARD WINNERS | FESTIVAL PHOTOS
San Francisco Dance Film Festival celebrated its fifth anniversary November 6-9 at the Brava Theater Center in the Mission District. Some of the best dance films from around the world were featured during the festival—from a dazzling array of screendance shorts to documentaries about the legendary Rudolph Nureyev and the should-be-famous Vincent Paterson, the choreographer to such stars as Michael Jackson, Bjork and Madonna.
Additional highlights include new work by renowned Israeli choreographer Dana Ruttenberg; an intimate portrait of Paul Taylor’s creative process; a genre-bending collaboration featuring New York City Ballet’s Tiler Peck, YouTube sensation and Dragon House Crew member Marquese Scott, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Matthew Rushing, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet’s Samantha Figgins; and a program dedicated to rhythmic dance forms from flamenco to tap to American folk dance.
