Directed by Andrew Margetson, this short film offers an intimate portrait of one of flamenco’s rising stars: Carmen Avilés. Dressed in a tracksuit, Avilés moves through the backstreets of Sevilla into a local housing project, bringing contemporary edge to an art form rooted in centuries of culture. “Carmen” is the latest in Margetson’s acclaimed dance portrait series, following past SFDFF selections like “Isolation” and “Lil Buck with Icons of Modern Art”.
