“Brumation” uses movement choreography to explore the torpor and sluggishness that can settle in during the cold, early days of the year. Directed, shot, and edited by award-winning filmmaker Jack Whiteley, the film stars Paris-based French-Chinese dancer and choreographer Mathilde Lin. The title draws from the Latin root for “winter solstice” and echoes the French word brume – meaning haze – evoking both physical dormancy and mental fog. Through minimal, introspective movement, the film captures a state of emotional and seasonal suspension.
