A cultural icon of the 1970s, Robert Shields began performing his signature robot routine outside the Hollywood Wax Museum. Just a few years later, he and his wife, Lorene Yarnell, were starring in their own hit prime-time CBS variety series, The Shields & Yarnell Show.
Along the way, Robert inspired generations of performers and artists, helping shape an art form whose influence continues to this day. Through rare footage, unforgettable stories, and Robert’s boundless imagination, the film reveals how creativity, determination, and originality can leave lasting ripples far beyond what we can see.
Funny, inspiring, and deeply human, “Robert Shields: My Life as a Robot” is a joyful reminder that a single life can influence countless others in ways both seen and unseen.
