Nastassia Winge Tan’s “Lion” explores identity, assimilation, and intergenerational silence. Drawing on the traditional lion dance, the film transforms a cultural ritual into a space for reflection, pride, and return. Created in collaboration with a handpicked crew from East and Southeast Asian diasporas and featuring Luk Hop Moon, a kung fu and lion dance troupe from Amsterdam. “Lion” invites conversation around heritage, belonging, and the emotional cost of assimilation. What emerges is not nostalgia, but a quiet refusal to remain silent.
