AXIS (Water Planet)

Axis, SFDFF 2019

AXIS – anatomy of space – created by choreographer, film-maker and New Zealand Arts Laureate Daniel Belton. AXIS is a collaboration between Good Company Arts and renowned artists Joyce Beetuan Koh, PerMagnus Lindborg, Tanya Carlson, Jac Grenfell, Jim Murphy, and Donnine Harrison with artists of the Royal New Zealand Ballet.

With the same evolutionary effect as was followed by the ancient Greeks in their search for beauty, AXIS offers a resonating, lyrical space. Dancers are seen travelling through apertures tensioned with the happening of projected light. Their movement establishes a circuitry of luminosity – illuminating song cycles in a cosmic choreography of light to celebrate the water planet, Earth.

"Water is the driving force of all nature" —Leonardo da Vinci
