In 2016, as part of the National Park Centennial, and directed by Amelia Rudolph, the dancers and technical team of Bandaloop, shot Coyote Waltz in Yosemite park. Dancing on mountain sites in and around the massif called the Rostrum, Coyote Waltz is a site-responsive dance film that playfully celebrates the beauty of the wild and our precarious and misguided relationship to it while re-imagining the waltz form musically and choreographically. With technical cinematography by James Adamson and Michael Graber and a musical score by Ben Juodvalkis, the film is shaped by the opportunities and constraints of the mountain environment, taking the viewer along a dance journey where the dance floor is the Merced river, the thousand foot Rostrum tower and the granite slabs of Turtle Rock.
