From the casually playful Finnish directors of SFDFF’s 2017 award-winning short Cold Storage, comes Fram, a documentary about two friends journeying to the ends of the earth, in order to make a dance film in the arctic wilderness of Spitsbergen, a remote island in the far north of Norway. En route, they explore the history of our ideas of the Arctic, along with the grand questions of life, art and our place in the world.
Choreographer-dancer-filmmakers and outdoor enthusiasts Thomas Freundlich and Valtteri Raekallio will join their fellow SFDFF award-winner Chantal Caron of Québec in presenting work that dares to take dance into the natural extremes or our northern hemisphere. See their award-winning shorts and their latest films, followed by a post-screening filmmaker talk about art-making in places where few have been and even fewer have danced.
