Raising Voices

Weaving mini documentaries and experimental shorts spanning a wide cross-section of the dance community, Raising Voices celebrates the work of under-represented artists, amplifying their powerful messages.

Followed by a discussion about activism in the arts, moderated by Laura Elaine Ellis, principal dancer with Oakland’s Dimensions Dance Theater, co-founder/presenter of the Bay Area’s Black Choreographers Festival, and a lecturer in Cal State East Bay’s Department of Theater and Dance.

Choreographers and filmmakers bring social justice issues to the forefront and give voice to the under-represented.
