Globe Trot: Crowd-Sourced Filmmaking and Collaborating from Afar

Mitchell Rose’s vision of hell is having to teach his mother to edit a complicated film project in Final Cut Pro over the phone. But his new crowd-sourced film, Globe Trot, wasn’t far from that. He cajoled 54 filmmakers in 23 countries into each contributing two seconds of footage of choreography by Bebe Miller. In this entertaining half-hour presentation, Mitchell, a professor of dance-filmmaking at Ohio State University, describes the 15 months of work that yielded a three-minute film.
