SECUNDARIA
A film by Mary Jane Doherty
Join San Francisco Dance Film Festival, in association with San Francisco Ballet and Ballet San Jose, in the West Coast premiere of Secundaria. This illuminating film, featuring one high-school class from Cuba’s world-famous National Ballet School, provides an intimate look at the political and social challenges in the lives of three talented students poised to move up onto the world stage.
This spring fundraising event for SFDFF also includes a post-screening Q&A with the filmmaker Mary Jane Doherty, who will be joined by Cuban principal dancers of San Francisco Ballet – Lorena Feijóo, Taras Domitro and Joan Boada – and José Manuel Carreño, the new Artistic Director of Ballet San Jose and former American Ballet Theatre star.
After the screening event, Patron ticket holders are invited to join the filmmaker and special guests for a private reception at the Elite Cafe with hot Cuban jazz music provided by SF JAZZ.
