Longing permeates Nicole Vaughan-Diaz’s rendition of “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” originally written by Horace Ott as an apology to his girlfriend for his own bad behavior, and subsequently made famous by Nina Simone’s iconic interpretation.
